Book Note: David Weber, Ashes of Victory

I read this book about 5-Aug-2002. I've read this book before. The book is copyright 2000. This note was last modified Saturday, 16-Apr-2016 20:03:47 PDT.

This is book 9 of the "Honor Harrington" series.

This note contains spoilers for the book.

I think this is a reread. I've certainly had the book on the shelves for some time. A very few details in the book tickle my memory; but some of that is because I'm half-way through the next volume, too. (I re-read this while waiting for Baen to release the next chunk of War of Honor electronically). But some bits feel strikingly fresh, like I definitely hadn't read them before.

The one thing it's mostly not is an Honor Harrington book. I mean, she's there, and she does things, but she's not central, and she's only involved in Saving The Universe in one moment of personal heroism right near the end.

I've seen a lot of people slamming this book. I didn't feel it was bad, but it didn't fire my interest the way earlier books have.
