His first novel, it turns out. A school story, and rather pleasant if a bit diffuse. Not so buried in the details of sport, either.

Also a mystery, with the school prize cups having been stolen out of the cricket pavilion. Of course a boy was in the pavilion for another purpose at about the same time, didn't see the thief, but is terrified of being accused of the big theft.
